Media Architecture for neighborhood resilience 2021, Netherlands, Amsterdam

Generating a set of design strategies for promoting neighborhood resilience through Media Architecture.

As part of the larger, ongoing research project ‘From Prevention To Resilience’, we have explored how Media Architecture can contribute to resilience. Our aim is to generate a set of design strategies for promoting neighborhood resilience.

We are a group of researchers from Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences who wish to present their latest work-in-progress to a community of practitioners. We have used an iterative, three level process to relate existing Media Architecture project examples with aspects that apply to neighborhood resilience in order to articulate the design strategies that form these relations. The design strategies represent an example of intermediate-level knowledge. They are concrete enough to inform design activities, yet generic enough to be applicable in different contexts. We believe that our research provides valuable insights for media architects and professionals from related fields and hope to gain feedback on our current state of work from the international community.
